2023 Advancing the Science of Diabetes Care and Education

Purpose

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) Foundation is funding up to 3 projects supporting translational research in diabetes care and education. Each funded project will receive up to $20,000.

We are interested in projects that explore a range of health services and outcomes research, aligned with the ADCES vision pillars, with an emphasis on four priorities for moving the field forward:

  • Diversity and Equity 
  • Health Economics and Policy 
  • Implementation Science 
  • Workforce Development

Criteria

ADCES recognizes the need to engage and support/collaborate with health services researchers interested in implementing services that positively impact clinical, behavioral, safety, quality, and economic outcomes and enhance the experience for both the person with or at risk for diabetes and the provider. The ADCES Foundation is providing an opportunity aimed to guide researchers to design and test hypotheses which will support development and implementation of evidenced-based best practices for diabetes care and education services, including those that align with the ADCES Research Agenda. Preference will be given to applicants with research experience in diabetes care and education.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF format, as an email attachment. Send to grants@adces.org by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

  • Funded recipients are expected to be notified on June 30, 2023
  • All projects must be started by July 19, 2023
  • All projects must be completed by June 18, 2024

Application Requirements 

Applicants must propose a project location in the U.S.

  • Description of the innovative project
  • Description of how the project falls under and expands at least one of the ADCES vision pillars and contributes to the ADCES Research Agenda
  • Description of the population being served
  • Description of the intended outcome of project
  • Description of your research environment and resources
  • Willingness to share potential impact through interview with ADCES staff, podcast or written article for communication and marketing purposes*
  • IRB materials such as protocol, consent, recruitment flyer (if applicable for the project – these may be draft form and do not need to be approved at the time of submission)*
  • Budget up to $20,000 total costs and budget justification*
    • Applications must abide by the ADCES Indirect Cost Policy
*Items noted with asterisk do not contribute to the 500-word limit
